For site backups, we provide 2 layers of protection: 1) We make a local backup of the entire account on the server (including the website and database) each night around 2am. We store 3 consecutive nights of backups. 2) We also have installed the BackWPUp backup plugin into the site and make a 2nd backup of the site + database to our cloud file storage account at Amazon S3. With this cloud backup, we maintain 10 consecutive backups.
PLEASE DO NOT ALTER OR CHANGE OUR JOBS THAT ARE CONFIGURED TO RUN NIGHTLY
You can however, add your own backup Job in the BackWPUp plugin to perform any ad-hoc backups you'd like. We HIGHLY RECOMMEND storing your backups externally (i.e. Dropbox, Amazon S3, FTP, etc.) because if you store them local within the site, that will cause the nightly backups to grow exponentially and could cause backup jobs to fail and not complete due to large file sizes.
